⏺ Everything is complete. Here's the current state:
Implemented:
- Migrations applied (create_organizations, add_has_organization,
add_current_organization)
- Database schema verified - both tables have correct columns, foreign keys,
and constraints
- Organization model with user() relationship
- User model updated with has_organization boolean cast,
current_organization_id integer cast, and currentOrganization() relationship
- OrganizationController with store, show, switch, destroy methods
- All 4 routes registered (POST store, DELETE destroy, GET show, PUT switch)
- Organization creation modal embedded in login page with inline styles and
JavaScript
- Dashboard route redirects users with an org to their org page
The only thing not yet wired up in the routes is the login logic (POST /login
and POST /register are still TODO stubs). Without authentication, the
auth()->check() && !auth()->user()->has_organization condition on the login
page will never trigger the modal for real users.

⏺ Here's a summary of what I implemented:
Login (POST /login):
- Validates email and password
- Uses Auth::attempt() to authenticate
- Regenerates session on success
- Redirects to dashboard on success
- Flashes error message to session on failure
Registration (POST /register):
- Validates first_name, last_name, email (unique), password (min 8, confirmed)
- Creates user with combined name, hashed password
- Auto-logs in the user after registration
- Redirects to dashboard on success
- Flashes validation errors to session on failure
UI improvements:
- Added red error banner at top of both forms when validation fails
- Added error class on inputs with per-field validation errors (red border via
existing CSS)
- Added password_confirmation field to register page (required by
password.confirmed rule)
Both pages now work end-to-end. Run npm run dev to see the changes reflected
in your browser.
